A Las Escondidas

Short film - currently in post-production
Bolivia, 1980. Under the rule of General García Meza, this short film tells the story of a young girl growing up in the shadows of political violence. While adults stay silent out of fear, Nina catches only glimpses: an absent father, whispered conversations, doors that never open. Her naïve gaze and the spark of imagination stand in stark contrast to the oppressive atmosphere of a regime pulling families apart. The narrative touches on silence, fear, loss, fragile family ties, and the vulnerability of childhood in times of repression.
With dialogue in Quechua, the story naturally integrates Indigenous voices and presence into its portrayal of a child’s world under authoritarian rule.
